It is a WooCommerce payment method, running on WordPress

The plugin needs WooCommerce. On a WordPress site with no WooCommerce there is no checkout for it to attach to, and we would rather say that here than have you find out after the upload.

That is not much of a limitation in this category. WooCommerce is where research peptide, supplement, and SARM stores end up precisely because it stays out of the payment relationship: unlike Shopify Payments, which is Stripe underneath, WooCommerce takes no position on who processes your cards. So the WordPress answer and the WooCommerce answer are the same plugin.

If your WordPress site is not a shop — a landing page, a booking flow, a members area — the same checkout is one server-side API call that returns a URL you redirect to. That path is documented in the developer docs, and it needs no plugin at all.

The choice a WordPress store owner is really making

Three plugins can sit in the same slot on a WooCommerce checkout. They are three different products underneath.

  • The official Stripe plugin, or WooPayments. Installs and processes on day one, because Stripe boards merchants without underwriting them. Research peptides sit inside Stripe’s Restricted Businesses policy, so the account closes at the first review — commonly with the balance held 90–180 days.
  • A high-risk gateway plugin — NMI, Authorize.net, PayTrace. Real, and it works: an acquirer underwrites you and issues a new MID. Expect a typical 8–15% all-in, a 5–10% reserve held 90–180 days, and one to four weeks of underwriting.
  • The BrokkrPay plugin. You keep your own Stripe account. BrokkrPay screens the business up front, de-risks every transaction, and hands the shopper to Stripe Checkout. Flat 2.5% plus Stripe’s standard rate, no BrokkrPay reserve, same-day onboarding for approved merchants.

What you need on the WordPress side

  • WordPress 6.2+, WooCommerce 7.6+, PHP 7.4+, and a USD store currency. Both the classic and the block checkout are supported, as is High-Performance Order Storage.
  • One API key from your BrokkrPay dashboard. The plugin registers its own webhook endpoint and collects the signing secret itself.
  • The plugin is not on WordPress.org or WooCommerce.com. You download the zip from your dashboard and upload it through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  • For live charges: BrokkrPay approval, credits topped up, and your own Stripe account connected. Installing in test mode needs none of that.

Does the BrokkrPay plugin work on WordPress without WooCommerce?

No. It is a WooCommerce payment method, so it needs WooCommerce 7.6+ running on WordPress 6.2+. On a WordPress site with no WooCommerce there is no checkout for it to attach to — use the HTTP API instead, which is one server-side call that returns a checkout URL.

Is this a WordPress payment gateway for high-risk businesses?

It is the WordPress-side install of one. BrokkrPay itself is checkout and de-risking software, not a merchant account: the charge runs on the merchant’s own Stripe account, and BrokkrPay never holds merchant funds. The plugin is how a WordPress store puts that flow on its checkout without writing code.

What does it cost to take payments on WordPress this way?

The plugin itself is free to download from your BrokkrPay dashboard. Processing costs a flat 2.5% of volume to BrokkrPay plus Stripe’s standard rate (about 2.9% + 30¢ on US cards). No BrokkrPay setup fee, no monthly minimum, and no BrokkrPay rolling reserve.
